This wedding has the perfect tears:laughs ratio. Haressa or Cica, was at her best friend’s wedding, Asilah, back in Feb. And since then I’ve seen so much of her and that really helped me navigate myself around, and understanding what’s important for her. But I didn’t know that she’d prefer Paramore, 5SOS and MCR over slow lovey dovey songs for getting ready. I know about her friendship Tiffany bracelet with Asilah, so cute!

While everyone around her seem to be so affectionate, she has a layer that only specific people can peel and the no 1 person would be her mom. She was so happy and giddy the whole getting ready but the moment her mom walked in, for just a mere 3 mins, she broke into tears already. I mean, have you seen a more excited and gleeful bride, walking to get herself married? That glance to Harris lived rent free in my mind.

She warned me that it will be quite emotional since it’s the first wedding for her side and everyone was prepared with a pack of tissue each. And I regret not getting one because during her dad’s “sent off” speech, everyone, I mean every single soul present were sobbing. The part when he said “Every first for her, is the first for us too. Take care of Cica better than we did. If you dont love Cica anymore, please return her to us like how we give her away to you”. All I could her was sobbing from every corners of the hall, including mine.

Then the waterworks continued when they went around for blessing from family members. But before that, I remember seeing Cica’s parents hugging each other. It’s such a rare sight and I can see the reliefs in their faces while embracing each other. Now I understand why Cica isn’t as touchy as her friends would like her to be, because she got all of them enough from her own parents and siblings. You know people said your love language is what you didn’t get growing up. But her exception ofc for Harris. I saw her friend said “Cica, I never know your love language is physical touch until I see you with Harris”. Honestly, Cica’s parents set such a high standard for herself, and seeing how she chose Harris even after 9 years, I know that she’s in good hands.

One of my fav parts of the day was when Lover was playing in the background, Cica and Harris were singing along, together with their friends that never leave Cica out of sight, (in case she needed anything). That half heart 🫶🏻, it’s the cutest thing ever. And the same friend who feed Cica coffee which she dreaded to have since the morning but afraid she might need to go to toilet mid-nikah so she only took the first sip at the last hour. This is the kind of wedding that made me feel so alive to a point I forgot to eat but only feel the hunger right after I put my camera in the bag. It’s unapologetically real and full of love, laughters and ofc tears. I will have a hard time moving on from this.
